The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Beit Lessin Theater 2014

Wow, what a production! These words were written following the play’s 300th performance, a fact I certainly do not take for granted! It seems the many calculations, markups and pedantic details that characterized working with director Gilad Kimchy and set designer Eran Atzmon were not in vain.

The concept behind the video production was an attempt to imitate the inner world of Christopher, a boy with Asperger's syndrome. As such, the video art I created was full of detail and lacked color – an attempt to force chaos into pattern. The cold, alienated result was meant to articulate the boy's emotional difficulties.

On the technical side, we worked with a precise mapping constructed on a laser-cut maquette using drawings of the stage. This allowed us to place each of the 856 cubes in their exact locations onstage, thereby creating a three-dimensional illusion of depth.
