Kiel Theatre Germany 2014
House of Bernarda Alba
We focused on two main aspects in this work: materialism and the fascist aesthetic.
The backdrop of the stage was made entirely from white rubber strings and it was important for me to maintain this element in my video work as well. I created a bullet print of the image on a longitudinal grid, with Omri Grossman’s work on After Effects. The process was similar to sculpting with wire. We created the bullet print on a moving surface using two-dimensional images, which allowed us to control the movement of each of the rubber strings. When the audience first encountered the video, it seemed to them as though the rubber strings were moving rather than the video projected onto them.
In the second part of the performance, I attempted to create an aesthetic of identical items, a kind of unifying mechanism that leaves no room for the individual.
